Trivia, trials and a teapot!

May 20, 2015  |  Featured Posts

Today’s post is a mix of the subject heading. I’ll start with the “Trivia”.
Several weeks ago Vickie chose me as a recipient of One Lovely Blog Award. Thank you Vickie.
I’m not going to choose any blogs to keep it moving forward as I know so many blogs have been included but I will do the seven facts about myself (hence the Trivia in the title).

1. I was a primary school teacher for almost twenty years and gave up when I had my son.

2. I have lived in the same area of Scotland all my life, it’s around twenty miles from Edinburgh.

3. I once taught a class of eleven year olds to cross stitch.

4. My current job is a complete change for me, I work as a part time receptionist in a very busy health centre.

5. I don’t like flying at all.

6. Animal welfare is important to me.

7. Tea is my favourite drink – I never drink coffee.

Now onto the “Trials” – We’ve just spent around three weeks going back and forth to the vet with both Poppy and Rosa and then Brandy. The girls both ended up being hospitalised at one point but they’re fine now and Brandy’s issues are really just age related problems.

Finally the “Teapot”. I recently bought a new teapot which I couldn’t resist. The only reason I’m mentioning it here, is that the design by Wedgwood called Mythical Creatures is based on old textile patterns – hopefully you can see the detail that looks like stitching.

I’ve been knitting quite a bit and also stitching. I’ve put the LK design to the side while I work on a Mosey n Me design for my husband. I stitched this pattern over ten years ago as a gift and when he saw it framed he loved it. I recently stumbled on it in my stash and decided to stitch it for him.

It’s very much a fun design to work on and I’m only going to make a couple of small changes from the original. I hope he likes it as much as he did the first one.
(He’s currently on cycle five and is doing better now that his treatment has been reduced). Thanks to everyone for the continued good wishes and prayers.

I’ll finish today with a word about a theme I’ve noticed when visiting blogs. Quite a few bloggers have mentioned that they are thinking of stopping blogging. I feel quite sad about this (even though I don’t blog very often) as I think blogging offers something that other media platforms don’t.
I’ve “met” so many lovely stitchers and knitters through blogging and I’m frequently inspired by the varied craft work that I see.

I hope all is well in your part of the world and that the weather is a bit warmer than it is here in Scotland. Take care and thanks for dropping by.

Lovely to see your photos and to hear what’s going on. Your stitching looks great and I’m sure will be well received! All the best to family and fur-children:-)

  3. Well I am not leaving blogging. 😉
So glad the cats seem to be over the illness. Now to keep them well.
Dear Brandy. I hope he keeps good health.
I am so glad your husband is tolerating his current treatment.
You take such fantastic flower photos.

  4. Hoping that the fur babies are all well now. As I have many tea pots, I appreciate your new one…love the pattern.

  5. Your poor fur babies! Hope they are all better now. You have me obsessing about that teapot now. OMG, so beautiful! Love your stitching project for your hubby. I also enjoyed learning more about you. Now I know why you were waving people on in your job (I doubt you remember telling me that, but you did once!)

  6. Ann – So glad the furry ones are feeling better. It is SO distressing when they become ill – and serious ill – oh the horrors of that. The flower photos you included in your blog post are so very pretty. You’ve purchased a great teapot and are stitching something fun and bright. My offer of the Birds in the Bower chart still stands and if your purchase does not come to fruition let me know. I am glad to hear your husband is doing better with his course of treatment. Remember in all the taking care of him, and your mother and your furry ones, you must also take care of yourself! I enjoyed reading your 7 facts.

  7. I’ll still be blogging, I don’t do other media stuff.
So pleased your animals are recovering and that DH is doing better with his treatment – that was good news to read.
Love the teapot, I’m a tea drinker too.
Nice new stitching project, very colourful and fun.
    {big hug} to you x

  8. So nice to reat the 7 trivia a bout you. It’s always very interesting to know someone better. I’m also a heavy tea lover. I used to be a coffee junkie, lol, but the my stomach was against so much coffee and I tried it with tea. And it’s suiting me. That teapot is really gorgeous and you are right, some of the creatures on it look like animals that you can find on old samplers.

Your new stitching project is so nice, I have always loved the funny look of some of the Mosey’N Me designs and I’m sure your husband will love it. Good to hear that he is feeling better with the reduced treatment.

It’s good to read that you won’t stop blogging like so many others. I’m not a member of other social platforms, so I’ll stay with blogging as well. I just love writing blog posts and blog hopping and commenting.

  9. Ann, it’s lovely to catch up with you here. I love the flower photos and that teapot! I can see why you love it.

Sorry to hear your fur babies have had to go see the doc. Hope they are all feeling better now.

It’s nice that you are stitching something that your husband admired in the past. I’m sure he’ll love it.

I will reply to your email later too. Happy Weekend!

  10. Hi Ann, Such a great post. Re your last point first, yes, I think it is a shame that some lovely bloggers are talking about stopping – I think that you can get a truer connection to people through a blog rather than FB which tends to be rather facile at times. Glad to hear that your husband is doing better as are the kitty cats. Love your cute stitchery and I loved reading your trivia about yourself. hugs, Kaye

  11. Hello Ann, it’s been awhile since I last looked at your blog, you made beautiful things in the last months, and the Ladies look great.
I hope both your husband and you are feeling better, let’s hope that you can enjoy a good relaxing summer.
I don’t blog as much as I used to but I will not stop my blog.

    Hugs Yvon.

  12. I’m glad to hear your DH is doing better and that the kitties have recovered.

The Mosey and Me design is very cute and I love that teapot.

  13. Hi Ann! I’m so glad to hear that your DH is doing better and that all the furbabies are feeling better too. I think the M&M design looks fun and I am sure your DH will love it and the teapot is lovely. I love seeing the little stitches around the lip and the animals.

It’s so very hard for me to blog (read/write) nowadays but I miss it so. I do think that people just feel busy and want instant gratification and have gone to FB and IG. I got a new job which I meant to blog about (will soon) and stitching has taken an even bigger backseat. I must carve out some time. I hope you are having a nice start to June!

  14. I am so glad that the fur babies are ok.
I love your current stitching progress. What a fun design.
I hope that you are having a wonderful summer. The flowers are gorgeous!!!
