Crochet progress.

I recently bought a new lens for my camera and the photo above was my first attempt at using it.  I’m looking forward to trying it out.

Where does time go?  No doubt I’m not alone in asking this question but this last week has just flown past.

I was caught up with having a new carpet fitted in my sunlounge – it’s where we keep lots of books and dvd’s etc so emptying the room and then putting everything back took ages. Added to that I had some family health issues to deal with which took up time as well.

I’ve almost finished my new banner – it seems to have taken forever and I’m so looking forward to stitching some other bits and pieces on a smaller scale for a little while.

I went along to the first of my crochet classes last Sunday and then went back for part two yesterday.  I really enjoyed the whole experience and I’m so glad that I took the plunge.  In the first class I learned some basic stitches and yesterday I learned how to crochet in the round to make a “granny square”.

You can see my little practice pieces above – I think the secret will be to reinforce what I’ve learned so far before I try to move on.  I know what I’ve done is very basic but for me it’s a big step forward.

I’ve tried to teach myself more than once and failed so having lessons in a small class was ideal.  The class was only three of us the first week and then four yesterday – our teacher was a lovely young Icelandic lady.

Finally today I’d like to share a short poem with you and also a photo of a gift I gave to my mother in law recently.

So what is love?  If thou wouldst know

The heart alone can tell.

Two minds with but a single thought,

Two hearts that beat as one.

And whence comes Love? Like morning bright,

Love comes without thy call.

And how dies Love?  A spirit bright,

Love never dies at all.

Thanks for popping in today and thanks too for your recent comments, especially to Margaret for the information about the Daisy Winder.  Take care and have a good week.
